As a film lover, I believe a good movie can change someone's life. With that, here's a list of my favorite films from my Letterboxd to yours!

A darkly funny cult classic where a backpack trip turns into a terrifying werewolf curse. My favorite movie of all time and first introduction to the horror genre!

Katrina Babies is a powerful documentary giving voice to the generation who grew up in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As a documentary lover, Katrina Babies is a fantastic look into the devastation of Hurricane Katrina that the general media might not show us.

A chilling faux-documentary investigating a massacre on the U.S./Mexico border through eerie found footage photography. While Savageland may be a horror film, this mockumentary digs deeper into racial profiling many Latino communities experience from police forces today.
Many of the most impactful songs I have listened to have been recommendations from family or peers. Here are my top albums that have gotten me through long drives, rough work weeks, or a walk to the coffee shop.

I Could Live in Hope is a slow burning shoegaze album built on minimal guitars and soft vocals. It's the kind of record you put on when you want something steady and comforting in the background. This album is my favorite pick for a fall drive through the mountains or reading a good book.

This emotional post-hardcore album mixes spoken word storytelling with intense instrumentals. Somewhere at the Bottom of the River dives into themes of loss and conflict, and feels like someone working through real, messy feelings in real time. This album takes the top spot on my list of favorites.

Asking for Flowers is a mellow folk-rock album that seems to cover everyday heartbreak, frustration, and hope in a way that feels relatable and grounded. Kathleen Edwards' use of old bluegrass and emotional lyricism crafts an insanely beautiful music collection.
Books feed your brain! Nourish your intelligence with my top reads from this year.

I Lost it at the Movies is a collection of early film criticism. Kael breaks down classic movies with opinions that are bold and sometimes brutal, making this book a great read if you love understanding why films work (or don't!).

Valley of the Sun is a classic western packed with moral tension and frontier grit. This book is a quick read with rugged narrative storytelling that makes me love Louis L'Amor's writing even more!

This book takes us into a detailed biography of Edward Burne Jones and a look into the world of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. It covers his life, major works, and the Victorian culture that shaped his art, all without the fluff.
